Jim Vogt
President and CEO
With more than 25 years of leadership experience in both start-up and established corporations, Jim Vogt brings a wealth of business and technology expertise to his role as president and CEO of Zettaset. Most recently, Jim served as senior vice president and general manager of the Cloud Services business unit at Blue Coat Systems. Prior to Blue Coat, he served as president and CEO at Trapeze Networks, which was acquired by Belden, Inc. He was also president and CEO at data encryption start-up Ingrian Networks (acquired in April, 2008 by SafeNet). Prior to this, Jim spent 11 years with SynOptics, Bay Networks and Nortel where he held several product line and general management roles, including president of Nortel’s Small Business Solutions group, vice president and general manager of Bay’s workgroup product and distributed network systems divisions, and vice president of product management for Bay’s desktop products group. Jim holds a BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nevada, and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
Brian Christian
CTO and Co-founder
Brian Christian is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Zettaset, and is the visionary behind its products and platforms. Zettaset is the latest in a series of successful ventures that he has created. Previous experience includes SPI Dynamics, which was the leading expert in Web application security assessment and testing before its successful exit to Hewlett-Packard in 2007. Brian has over 16 years of experience in high tech positions within the information technology industry focused on product innovation. Brian’s career includes key security positions at Lucent Technologies, Security First Technologies and Internet Security Systems (ISS). While at Security First, the first online banking company, Brian helped to establish the baseline of Internet financial commerce. While at ISS, Brian helped to create the standard for the industry’s first penetration and vulnerability assessment models. Brian has spoken on the topic of Web application security at numerous conferences worldwide including SANS, Infosec, Infosec Canada, ISACA Audit Conference, ISSA and ISACA Chapter Meetings, Infosecurity and CSI. He was the San Francisco OWASP Chapter President from 2004 to 2007 and contributes to many industry events and conferences.
Timothy Straight
VP of Sales and Business Development
Timothy Straight is Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Zettaset. In this capacity he is responsible for capitalizing on the growing demand for the company’s innovative Orchestrator platform for Hadoop infrastructure management. Tim brings nearly 35 years of IT and business experience to the Zettaset team. Previously he served as vice president of Looxcie, Inc. where he helped bring to market the world’s first wearable video camera which was named one of Time magazine’s Top 50 Inventions of 2010. Prior to Looxcie, Tim served as the vice president of sales and operations for AirMagnet, where he developed the strategic sales and marketing initiatives for the wireless security and networking company. He also was instrumental in AirMagnet’s sale to Fluke Networks. Tim has also held vice president and director-level positions at CommTouch Software, Netscreen Technologies, Mirapoint, and Gadzoox Networks. He has a strong reputation for establishing strategies necessary to grow both startup and established organizations. Tim holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island.
Tim Reilly
VP of Finance and Operations
Tim Reilly is responsible for Zettaset's financial strategy and company operations, and leverages nearly 20 years of business, financial and operational experience at public and private companies in the networking, software and internet industries. Prior to Zettaset, Tim was the vice president of finance at Trapeze Networks during which time he helped lead the company through significant growth to become one of the market leaders in the wireless LAN industry and ultimately to its acquisition by Belden. Prior to that, Tim served as the vice president of finance at netVmg, a provider of intelligent route control products, which was acquired by Internap Networks. He has also held numerous financial positions at WorldxChange Communications and CATS Software. Tim began his career as an auditor in the Palo Alto office of Ernst & Young, LLP. He is a certified public accountant, and earned a BS Accounting from the University of Southern California.
Alan Truman
VP of Engineering
As Vice President of Engineering, Alan Truman is responsible for the development and delivery of the Zettaset's enterprise-grade Hadoop management solution to partners and customers. Alan brings over three decades of experience in sourcing, building and managing world-class engineering teams. He has deep expertise in building software products that stand up to the rigors of enterprise requirements. Most recently, Alan was the vice president of engineering for the Cloud Services Business Unit at Blue Coat Systems, where he managed all aspects of developing high-quality Security as a Service (SaaS) for mid-tier and enterprise customers. Prior to Blue Coat, Alan served as vice president of engineering at Ingrian Networks, where he managed a diverse team data protection and secure key management solutions for enterprise customers. Alan was the first engineer at SynOptics Communications, which was the leader and pioneer in LAN infrastructure, and the first to market with 10Base-T. Alan has held other engineering positions at Xerox PARC, Harris Farinon and Boeing Company. Alan holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech.
John Armstrong
VP of Marketing
John Armstrong is the driver behind market development, company outreach, and sales/partner enablement at Zettaset. John has a proven track record of delivering results and growing revenues by connecting technology with business needs to deliver customer value. Before joining Zettaset, John provided contract marketing, consulting, and interim management expertise to a diverse set of clients including Cisco, Juniper, LeadFormix (VP Mktg), Mobile Money (VP Mktg), NetScaler (VP Mktg), NetScout, Nokia, Wyse, and many others. Prior to his consulting career, John spent nearly four years as a vice president and chief networking analyst at Gartner where he created successful go-to-market strategies for high-profile service provider and enterprise IT clients and venture-funded start-ups. He has also held key marketing positions at pioneering networking companies, including Yipes Communications (VP Market Strategy), Madge/Lannet and SynOptics/Bay Networks. John holds an MA in Communications Management from the Annenberg School at the University of Southern California, and a BA from Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto.
